Christmas Debris

Its not all about crafting.

So Christmas came and went with a full house, full tummies and too many Lunam’s (My family name) in one place due to a family reunion.  We drank, we ate, we laughed and we opened presents 🙂 Santa was a kind and generous man this year

Yep, even though they are adults my kids still all get Christmas stockings.  I’m such a sap lol  So one of my darlings made me one this year which was epically awesome 😀

Breakfast was the usual influx of people in search of their presents vying with rumbly tummies.  Mum bought over wine with gold in it and kept making inappropriate references to bodily functions, sieves and inheritance which even caused the cat to go ewww and hide under the table

That’s my seat he’s hiding under hoping to be saved from inappropriate breakfast conversation . . . or ham . . . probably ham

So after we got Christmas out of the way I put the tree away so that Natalie could continue to eat without having to sit in the middle of it.  This was the day after boxing day and we were all knackered.  Its been a very busy few months in the Semmens house.  And it rained.  Just a little but enough for us to not leave the lounge for a couple of days.  This lead to many movies and some were even to educate the kids

So the general consensus on the above is as follows:

Suicide Squad (2016): It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself? Pretty much shit apart from the opening scene

London Has Fallen (2016): After the British Prime Minister has passed away under mysterious circumstances, all leaders of the Western world must attend his funeral. But what starts out as the most protected event on earth, turns into a deadly plot to kill the world’s most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. The President of the United States, his formidable secret service head and a British MI-6 agent who trusts no one are the only people that have any hope of stopping it. Written by Anonymous

Never going to be a classic but a good watch

Shutter Island (2010): It’s 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He’s been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn’t been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy’s shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals “escape” in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything – his memory, his partner, even his own sanity. I love this movie, the kids loved this movie.  Think its the 4th time I have seen it but the first for Nat & Ron

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975): McMurphy has a criminal past and has once again gotten himself into trouble and is sentenced by the court. To escape labor duties in prison, McMurphy pleads insanity and is sent to a ward for the mentally unstable. Once here, McMurphy both endures and stands witness to the abuse and degradation of the oppressive Nurse Ratched, who gains superiority and power through the flaws of the other inmates. McMurphy and the other inmates band together to make a rebellious stance against the atrocious Nurse. Written by Jacob Oberfrank

The first time that the kids have seen it.  Nat loved it, Ron didn’t get it and went to bed

American Poltergeist (2015): A group of friends move into a vacation home with a sinister past in Fall River, Massachusetts. Suspicious of the home’s owner, Taryn feels a strong connection to the house and finds herself at the center of one of the most deadly poltergeists in American history. Written by Nicole Holland

Even as a last resort DO NOT watch this movie.  I love b grades but this was just sadly bad

The Poltergeist of Borley Forrest (2013): After visiting a supposedly haunted forest, a teen girl comes to believe that a violent poltergeist has followed her home and is stalking her and so with her brother and friends, sets out on a mission to unravel its mystery and stop it before it harms someone. Good premise, shit movie

The Fear of 13 (2015): A convicted murderer who has spent 23 years on Death Row tells his story.

LOVED THIS!!!!! Seriously, its a watcher.  Nick Yarris is a magical story teller and you just kept watching.  Every time someone came in a talked (I was watching by myself) I had to rewind to hear what he had said.  This would be my surprise favourite.

So after all that I went shopping with a voucher and bought we a present 🙂 IMG_6801.JPG

Cross Stitcher, knitter, home cook, HVAC specialist, avid movie and TV watcher, reader and mum. I work full time and I'm not very good at sitting still so I love to try all sorts of crafting things from scrap-booking to ceramic work, but mostly I stitch. Heaven & Earth designs would be my favourite. I have had some major health scares in the past few years that I would not of expected to experience for at least another 20 odd years (born in 1971 so am currently only 45). Due to this I have a bucket list and its full of things right from books I must read to adventures I must achieve before I croak. I am always at the gym making myself stronger and healthier to fight my challenges and achieve my goals. Before the challenges I thought there would always be enough time and was just drifting along. You know how it is. Work, chores, kids, sleep, get up tomorrow and start again. I didn't really have any clear goals. I knew I wanted to travel but that was pretty much it. I was gaining weight steadily and didn't do anything much outside of the house and work. Since the challenges I have managed to get almost front row for both the Eagles and Elton John (expensive but you can't take it with you right), have had a day tour Kayaking around a lake and hiked the Tongariro Crossing. None of these would I even have considered 3 years ago. This is only the beginning :D Life is a gift and its what you make of it. You want it then you best be prepared to go get it :D
